What is a Megapixel (MP) Anyway?

We have a great cam­era; a Nikon D90 DSLR just chock full of  megapix­els. For each of those invis­i­ble megapix­els, we have a mil­lion invis­i­ble pix­els. I would rather not see a pixel. See­ing pix­els in Pho­to­shop gen­er­ally means I’m attempt­ing to use too low a res­o­lu­tion graphic at too large a size. Images are made up of tiny dots (pix­els). Vis­i­ble pix­els are yucky! They make my graph­ics ugly.

Is it legal to download and use internet photos?

We hear this ques­tion from our clients often. The answer is almost always NO!

You can­not down­load and use pho­tos from the inter­net unless the site specif­i­cally states that you may down­load pho­tos and spec­i­fies the exact con­di­tions under which you can use them. For instance, you may be given per­mis­sion to use a photo for per­sonal use. Plac­ing that photo on a com­mer­cial site vio­lates copy­right code.

Too Good to Pass Up

Did I miss the SEO Boat?

Just got off the phone with a fast talk­ing sales rep from a com­pany that swore they were a Google part­ner and could “guar­an­tee” first page rank­ing in Google for my web­site. I must be crazy because after argu­ing with this guy for a half-​​hour I turned down his fan­tas­tic promises, unsub­stan­ti­ated guar­an­tees, and super dis­counts. He warned me mul­ti­ple times that I would miss the boat for­ever if I didn’t sign up immediately.

Facebook Fan Page vs Standalone Website

A client recently asked us if a Face­book busi­ness account or a stand-​​alone web­site works best. Since we are in the busi­ness of cre­at­ing both, the client prob­a­bly thought we had an answer. After stum­bling and mum­bling, I con­fessed to hav­ing no absolute answer.
